The Zoo

LM has just gotten to the age where he's starting to notice animals.  He squeals with delight every time the cat walks anywhere near him, and the dogs just existing in the same space as him can send him into peals of hysterical giggles.  So, when friends invited us to go to the zoo with them I thought it would be the perfect time to  take him - if he loves the small cats he'd probably love the big cats.

The lions didn't get close enough to us for him to see, unfortunately, but he was able to see a few others.  He really got a kick out of the zebras and the flamingos.  I'd like to take him again sometime this summer, we had a lot of fun.

Black and White and my Macro Lens

I have not taken this lens off my camera since I got it on Monday - thanks again Lori!  I know this lens isn't really the ideal lens to shoot a baby who's a mover and a shaker with, but I can't help wanting to play with it, so I snapped a few over the last few days with it.  I think I managed a fairly decent shot here.

There's something about this baby that I just love seeing in black and white.

New Lens - Hello Macro!!

I think I'm in love!  I know that I have a long way to go learning how best to use it, but this new lens is the most fun thing I've played with in a long time.  I've always been more interested learning macro photography than I have at learning people photography, I think because I feel like I can be more creative with it, and I'm completely amazed at the detail I can achieve with this lens.

I also wanted to add a re-edit of a picture I took a week ago.  I got some suggestions and feedback from some very talented ladies on what I needed to do to make it better, and I applied those suggestions the best I could.  I really love it that much more now!  Thanks again!

My Favorite Little Man

How is it even possible to love one little tiny human being so much?  He makes me smile all the time, even when he frustrates me.  I love seeing how excited he gets, just because a dog or cat has walked into the room.  I love the way his eyes crinkle up when he smiles.  I love how one morning he's able to do something new that he couldn't do the night before.  And I just can't stop taking pictures of him.  After all, he is the cutest baby in the world.

Love That Shot - Beautiful Bokeh

Love that Shot's photo challenge for today is Beautiful bokeh.  For those that aren't familiar with photography terms, bokeh is (to quote from Wikepedia) "is the blur,or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or 'the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light.' "


I immediately thought of the floral pictures I took the other day when I saw this challenge, I tried my best to get good bokeh with them.  I can't decide which one I like best, so I'm putting them all here.  Hope you enjoy!
